I see a few posts talking about version 7.7 – are there any release notes?

And did I miss the announcement, or perhaps that is yet to come?

I haven’t been able to find a Changelog or any other item about 7.7 yet.

Yes, Virtualmin 7.7-2 is available for installation in our repos. Refresh the list of available packages and run the upgrade.
