Is there anywhere a better explanation of the virtual or sub server thing in Virtualmin?

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version AlmaLinux 8.2
Virtualmin version 8.2

I need to understand the virtual server thing properly and didn’t find a good explanation. The one in the documenatation somehow doesn’t explain what is meant with a “virtual server”.
For me, the virtual server is the thing on which Virtualmin is running (that’s a dedicated piece of hardware on which the OS and all software like webserver etc. are running. Now Virtualmin wants me to create a virtual server in a virtual server?
I have 5 or 6 different domains which I want to run on this (hardware) virtual server. I want to direct webspace to the individual domains as well as email addresses and FTP accounts. That’s about it.
I guess I’ll have to setup the Virtual Server within Virtualmin in order to do that. But it’s only a guess. Is there a place where this is explained maybe in a step-by-step tutorial or so? I’ll happily follow any pointer. Looking for it in Google led me to the documentation which is quite vague, at least for me.
Thanks!

That’s a VPS - a Virtual Private Server (not a virtual server)

In Virtualmin lingo, a top level virtual server is what one would use most of the time to host a website.

Sub servers are rarely used. You can ignore them completely or research them to write a thesis.

You will be able to get by just fine if you use a Virtualmin virtual server to host each and every one of your domains / websites / email accounts

Thanks! That helped!

I use them all the time there is no thesis needed, they are simply web spaces owned by the same user as it’s parent. I use them for sub domains so they can access data from either the parent domain or any other sub server belonging to the root user which means it’s easy to share stuff like databases across sub servers which may or may not be sub domains of the parent eg you may have mircrosoft.com as the parent and google.com as the sub server each can use the same data as both ‘servers’ use the same linux user

Check the docs.
