Installing virtualmin on already running server with webmin

Hello
I have an already configured server on Debian 11, with webmin installed and in use.
I want to install also virtualmin, but i can’t find and instructions to install it on existing system, the setup file want’s to create a fresh install of all components, which is not possible on the already running system.
Am i missing something?

See Manual Installation – Virtualmin

You really should not do that. You’re going to spend more time trying to configure everything, trying to troubleshoot why things aren’t working as expected, and then at the end of it all, you’ll still have a system that continues to surprise you (and us when you ask us questions) for years to come.

Save yourself some time and start with a freshly installed supported OS (Debian 11 isn’t yet supported, but will be in under 24 hours if I can get Ilia to stop giving me new projects until after Virtualmin 7 is out).

Edit: I really can’t be emphatic enough about this. Nobody ever gets a manual install right, and they always suffer for weeks or months after trying and then eventually give up and install fresh, anyway, just so they’ll have a system that looks like everybody else.

If you do a manual install over webmin/usermin running then take care you can get ( and will) problems after.

This is no manual nor a howto.

Only some little tips you mabye get it running.
Take care of good separate offline working backups, take care of also extra database working backups check if all data is in it!

Then before and also after if you are done with the manual installation vmin , you have to disable the usermin and webmin repo !!! While otherwise things going VERY wrong with updates!

So after that all vmin webmin and usermin updates should go with the virtualmin repo!

Ok, this was what i was expecting, but was hoping not. I m not willing to reinstall a live server obviously however, but will have it on mind whenever i install a new server.
