Install option for virt

I would like to see a LAP install option…aka no mail server. I do not know if it would cause dependence issues…just a thought.

The --minimal option is already pretty much this. That removes the big parts of the mail stack from the default install.

The only thing that would also be removed if we made a no-mail version would be Dovecot and procmail/procmail-wrapper. Both are pretty small.

You have to have some mail processing because mail is a fundamental part of how notifications and such are sent from various system services (and web apps, though it’s become common to be able to use remote smtp or cloud-based services for that these days). So, Postfix is always going to be there, but you can certainly disable mail features of Virtualmin for users (though remember that users with a shell account do not need to use the mail server to send mail…SMTP is a stupidly simple protocol, and mail can be sent using nothing but shell or PHP or whatever scripts, though minus the DKIM signing routing through Postfix would provide).
