Install issue on RL-10

hi all -

i saw there was some activity on the releases page, so i thought i would try RL-10 again.

the “unstable” release continues to install flawlessly; however, the stable release is giving me a Username/Password Authentication issue (below)

usually i would interpret this as a signal to just be patient, but i did see where RL-10 is now a supported platform.

any suggestions to move forward? i am running as ‘root’ as i always do. and there is nothing else installed, this is a fresh RL10 installation.

For now, until Virtualmin 8 is released the best way to install Virtualmin on EL 10 systems is by using the Virtualmin RC repos.

Just get the latest version of the installation script from the GitHub repo and run it with the --branch rc flag.

thank you.

dumb question: what is the difference between doing “branch rc” and just using the “branch unstable” option that seems to consistently work?

Virtualmin RC repos mostly mirror the stable repos. They contain tagged releases that show up in the RC repo as soon as we release them on GitHub.

We only tag releases after thorough testing. The repo is called RC because basically the same packages, after more testing, appear in the stable repo.

In contrast, the Unstable repository builds on every commit, which may have bugs or incomplete features.

I’d say the RC repos are safe to use. For an EL 10 production server, you shouldn’t use the Unstable repo.

Since the stable Virtualmin 8 repo isn’t available yet, the RC repo mentioned above is the right choice.
