Import WordPress database using Virtualmin

Hi Gomez,

I have followed your instructions fully, built the clean server, installed pgpmyadmin (into /pgpmyadmin) and wordpress (at top level) scripts then copied the backup over ftp. However, when I went to install the plugin from the wordpress admin panel that was the error I got about referers.

I am not sure which site you say is up and running and you have visited as it is only at this stage a test server on my main server which you cannot access without logging in. There is the original site (which I am trying to move) still running and I access that via a coded alternative to “wp-admin” for security reasons.

The only thing I appear to have done is install the pgpmyadmin on the server before trying to access it but I do not think that is what is causing me access issues to the site. How do I overcome the “unknown url” safety check on virtualmin to allow me to access the dashboard throug wp-admin?

As I said, it is occuring for both safari and chrome and today I tested it on firefox as well. Same result.

Actually I can see how to do it although there is the security warning that worries me. I will try it and see what the result is. How serious is a reflected XSS attack?

OK. Changing the config file has worked and I can now access the site and continue.

Hi Gomez,

I have accessed the site and followed your instructions.

However, when I go to the plugin and select backups, it starts but then gives me a message of:

Unable to import

Unable to start the import. Refresh the page and try again

Is this a file transfer issue or something else? The permissions on the file are 644.

[Edit]. I have seen that the folder should have 0777 so have changed it and all the contents. However it still will not restore. Also, I tried to export the site and that too will not work. I am currently moving the file to storage and will try to import it.

Well I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin. Backed up the site again (where the plugin works fine) but it still will not import the backup on the virtualmin virtual server. It sees it but keeps returning the error message. I can only assume it is something to do with the virtual server setup that is somehow stopping or preventing the import. I have raised it with servMask but not had a response yet.

Any ideas? Next step is to delete the virtual server and start again.

have you tried to empty database on virtualmin, and open virtualmin > edit database > manage (on specified database) > execute SQL > run SQL from file ?

I do copy public_html and import database as my method of migrating wordpress.
Then change site address on wp_options table, and select database on wp-config.php file.

If you have root acceess and cpanel backup, you can import the backup on virtualmin > add servers > migrate virtual server

cpanel backup file on cpanel > backups > Download a Full Account Backup

@GeoffatMM you know what? I will create free video how to do this crap
99% or replies was really bad

That would be really helpful, not just for me but for future users too. Thanks.

Is this video available somewhere?

No I do not think Georges has done it.

I will eventually get back to this topic but as a fire engulfed my house and all our effects it may be some time. Thankfully my dogs (who now eat filet steak every day) woke us up to let us know. No injuries to humans or pets. Websites taking a back seat for now!
