If I disable mail on a virtual server can I still send mail?

Why would I want this

I have several clients that use office 365 for email but their website still needs to send email from a real SMTP Email account.

Does any one know what the deal is with this one, I would lie to thing the answer is yes.

Thanks

NB: yes i would have correct SPF record setup

SPF and DKIM. It should work if you do.

@shoulders,

You DO NOT need to use Virtualmin for email by any means, in fact a few of my domains use Google Workspace for email and to do so, you simply adjust your DNS records setting:

MX Record(s)
SPF Record
DKIM Record(s)
DMARC Record

The email provider should be able to provide you those records.

Gotcha, but I want to add a local email account so I can send emails from websites.

I probably can leave mail on and live with the warning at worst. :smiley:

Any system user can send mail, by default. Mail being “enabled” on a domain is only about receiving mail.
