How to update webmin with virtualmin? No update button

Hello,

I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the latest version of webmin installed. My current version is 1.690 and I am failing scans for PCI compliance because it is out of date (well there are vulnerabilities that the latest version addresses).

Now I’ve followed directions on the web and there is just no update button as there was for usermin.

I’ve tried via ssh to do yum update webmin and receive “no packages marked for update”, did a yum clean all, same thing.

I do not want to start following instructions for a fresh install incase it wipes out my installation.

The only hint I have is an older post https://www.virtualmin.com/node/14062 but this thread is 4 years old. So here if similar information from my installation:

And when I do yum info webmin:

But I’m not able to update.

Please guide me in getting this updated,

Thank you!!

Since I’m fortunate enough to have access to this VM and physical computer it’s hosted on, I’ve added a NIC and changed the IP that virtualmin / webmin listen on effectively closing those ports externaly. Now I need to establish a VPN connection to the network where the machine is located and access virtualmin / webmin on the internal IP.

I’d still be interested to know how to update webmin though.

Thanks!

Howdy,

I believe that’s the latest version available in the CentOS 6 repository. I’ll talk to Joe about pushing out the latest Webmin version into that repository.

If you’d like to grab a newer Webmin version sooner though, you could always download and install the RPM from webmin.com.

Okay thanks for the reply Eric, I’m going to have to have to figure out how to do that though - my technical ability is limited in Centos which is why I’m using Virtualmin
