How to Install Webmin on CentOS Stream 10?

Hi all,

I’m currently using Cockpit, but I’ve noticed it doesn’t have all the features I need compared to Webmin. The main reason is that I haven’t been able to install Webmin properly on CentOS Stream 10. From what I understand, CentOS 10 is based on CentOS Stream 10 or RHEL 10, which is a rolling-release, continuously updated distribution. Because of this, Webmin might not yet fully support all the new system changes in CentOS 10 as it did with CentOS 7 or 8.

If anyone has experience installing Webmin on CentOS Stream 10, I’d really appreciate some guidance!

Thanks in advance!

Small team and I don’t think they have the resources to devote to something like this. If you care to state the specific install problems you are having then MAYBE someone would be willing to take a stab at it.

don’t use Stream, the fact that it is a rolling release is an issue and it is used as a testing ground before the changes are pushed to stable OS such as RHEL.

If you like CentOS consider Alma or Rocky Linux.

Webmin is not Virtualmin. Just install the danged thing. It’s the same as any other OS.

No. Webmin works fine on CentOS Stream. Webmin is not Virtualmin, and the complexity of the installation is vastly different.

If they’re just needing Webmin, they can use whatever OS they want.

Virtualmin has stringent OS requirements because it is complicated as hell to keep all the moving parts working together. Webmin is a bunch of modules for managing various services, and we make no promises about them working together in any coherent way. Webmin can run on just about any UNIX-y OS on the planet.

Thank you all for your helpful replies and support! I only recently realized that a fix was released on May 25th, which allowed me to successfully install Webmin.

Yeah. I realized that. I asked specifically WHAT problem they were having. From the OP’s last post it appears there was a gap between last trying and asking.
