Hi. I am trying to setup a alias redirect for the document root of a domain, and I am I having problems doing so. For example; I want to redirect the document root of example.com, which is /home/example.com/public_html, to /var/www/html. When I go to the “Edit Website Redirect” page in virtualmin, I enter “/” as the source and “/var/www/html” as the destination. This results in error and it tries to redirect indefinitely to “index.html”. What is the proper way to set this up? Thanks.
For those struggling with this problem, here are my observations and solution. It appears as if the document root redirect I wanted cannot be setup through virtualmin for a regular virtual server. This kind of redirect can however be set up for sub-servers and alias-servers. So the solution is create or ensure that the server you want to setup redirect on is a sub-server or alias-server. So go to “Edit Website Redirect” page in virtualmin, and enter “/” as the source and “/var/www/html” as the destination.
