@Stegan

Seems your reply is meant for anther question.

Perhaps I did not understand by what you mean by “Webmin splash screen”

I thought you meant the only thing I know that is produced the default screen produced automatically when you add a new virtual server screen. This:

Or did you mean something else - like what?

You can disable splash screen by opening browsers console and running:

settings_embed_product_branding_privileged = false;
theme.config.save();

Also, for splash screen customizations refer to this post:

Or simply, as suggested, replace the unwanted index.html with your own website!
But that was too difficult!

Or perhaps not really what the OP actually wanted or means by “splash screen”.
I waiting to see if I was really wrong with my first assumption.

I know the sort of feedback I would get if I suggested to website end users to change setting in their browser -“none of my business” would be a polite version.

I know Virtualmin has some sort of automated ‘place holder’ while the UI loads. Like the three colored dots? that the Discourse software here shows if the page load takes too long. (I think it is a 3 second thing).

Anyhow, since I don’t have Webmin only, I’m just guessing but that was my first impression of what they meant. Not the default landing page.

I have never seen that! - but then perhaps my cable speed is too good

It’s also a server load thing. Not sure how throwing up a ‘splash’ in that situation is considered helpful. :wink:

OP is not asking about the default index.html in Virtualmin. There is a loading screen when you first browse to Webmin/Virtualmin. It may only appear for a split second if your Webmin system is fast and if you have a fast network connection. That’s what OP is asking about.

It is not an index.html file that can simply be replaced. Ilia has explained how to alter it.

Thanks, Now I understand @Joe @ID10T
Now I actually wonder what I’m missing (stuffing cotton wool down the cable - or digging out that old modem) to find out?

@all,
By ‘webmin splash screen’, i mean the branding splash screen that shows ‘webmin’.

I cant find any options to disable it in theme configuration options.

As there is no option to disable, is there an option to change the logo.

Ilia has explained how to change it above, and linked to a lengthy discussion about it in our github.

Thanks for the heads up.

@all, thanks thus far for your inputs, but I still cant get the splash screens off.

  1. my webmin system / network connection is not fast, thus the splash page/s are a big turnoff.

  2. I have read through this github: Theme: Login page customization · Issue #639 · webmin/authentic-theme · GitHub posted earlier:

Setup information:
OS version:20.04.1
Webmin Version:2021
Virtualmin Version:7.7
Usermin version:1.861
Authentic theme version: 20.22

reverts fro the comments of “illaijie” in the github page:

The "show branding splash screen on initial loading (y/n) option is not there at all in my theme confirmation page at all. Is there something I need to install?

  1. there is no further directory (images/favicons) under /etc/webmin/authentic-themes

#3) A ‘brand’ directory was mentioned in the above github link, but I cant find it

#4) please which directory is scripts.dl?

  1. also where can I modify these:
    settings_product_branding_show_time_min_privileged
    settings_product_branding_show_time_max_privileged

Please help
