How to Disable the Automatic Creation of autoconfig and autodiscover Subdomains in Virtualmin

I’ve noticed that when creating a domain in Virtualmin, the following subdomains are also created:

https://autoconfig.domain.com/
https://autodiscover.domain.com/

Moreover, both of them point to https://www.domain.com/. This doesn’t seem very clean from an SEO perspective, as these subdomains are being indexed by Google. In some cases, the original page seems to disappear from the search results and is replaced by pages such as:

https://autodiscover.domain.com/pageetc...

I’ve also noticed that there are DNS records for autoconfig.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com.

Would it be safe to remove these DNS records without causing any issues with future updates, installations, or other Virtualmin functionality?

What would be the best way to disable the automatic creation of these subdomains, preferably in a quick and efficient way? I have quite a large number of domains, so I’m looking for a solution that can be applied to many domains at once.

Depends if you want email clients (e.g thunderbird) to have the ability to auto configure a mail box on your domain. Without it you will have to configure your email clients manually. If you don’t use email on the domain there won’t be an issuses, but as a work around if you do use usermin as your email client as it is preconfigured to any domain you add to virtualmin . On point is in the world of seo I’m sure google etc are aware of the existence of these sub domains and maybe ignore them when they are collecting data

Does it actually work though? I haven’t tried for a while, but I could never get it to work.

What about with Outlook as well as Thunderbird?

Yes it does work, as I’m not a Windows user I can not vouch for it working with Outlook
