Package updates
All installed packages are up to date
I just testing virtualmin restore and I see greylist whitelist of smtp servers I’ve added of the years doesn’t get backed up. Is there any automated way I can back that up or get it added the the virtualmin backup.
Who maintains the smtp list as well?
Virtualmin → Email Settings → Email Greylisting → Whitelisted clients
This initial list is very dated, maybe it should just be emptied
this list looks like it is the package default, but I could be wrong, as you point out some clarification might be useful
Virtualmin → Email Settings → Email Greylisting → Whitelisted recipients
should postmaster

be in here by default, possibly not as the same delivery rules should apply to these well known system accounts.
The greylisting was on my list to post my thoughts when I get back to my server project.

this is related just incase the devs decide an update here is required, I would like to see a few upgrades to the Greylisiting
a way to back these lists up (i.e. in the system backup)
a webmin module so we can alter the configs directly
on/off/global per domain
have this as a monitor on the dashboard

Don’t think per domain will work as the greylist milter is either on or off but there may some config settings for the greylist milter that no one bothers with. Why would you want to restrict the greylist milter by domain anyway?
milter is only used for mail sending/receiving limiting in Virtualmin, Postgrey is used for the greylisting (not 100% sure though).
Not all clients will want greylisting as it has consequences, i.e. non-instant email delivery.

How is the This may help set up ?
before this goes off-topic
Howdy,
The greylisting is performed by the Postgrey service.
It also sounds like the milter-greylist service was setup on your server – the name there is a bit confusing, as it’s not actually what is performing your greylisting.
The only thing Virtualmin uses milter-greylist for is it’s email rate limiting.
So if you’re experiencing any problems, the key would be to review the Postgrey service to try to troubleshoot the issue.

My full backup seems to have my postgrey whitelists
By the looks of it they are included when you backup the mail server settings

To back up your greylist whitelist in Virtualmin, you can include it in the mail server settings backup. This way, your Postgrey whitelists will be saved during the backup process. You can adjust these settings under “Email Settings → Email Greylisting” in Virtualmin.
I think they already are, just just need to make sure you backup virtualmin config
