Hi,

I’m needing to look at upgrading as 20.04 is at end of life.

My A2 host highest Ubuntu install choice is 22.04 so I would need to upgrade through multiplr version from a fresh install of that.

I suspect that would not be a “grade A” OS in this case ?

I did that with Debian. I could only get 10 at the time. I couldn’t quite wait for 12.

If they don’t offer what you want, do the upgrade. I had to, and you probably will, do my own apt source list to do the upgrade.

But to answer the question? If it is a minimal install with no preloaded ‘crap’ then you are Grade A for purposes here.

Maybe find a better host. 24.04 has been out for a year.

Many people have upgraded through multiple versions of Ubuntu and Debian and it continued to work OK, but I wouldn’t recommend starting out that way. I do hundreds of those kinds of upgrades for my other job, and there are definitely surprises in the resulting system. All sorts of things change from one revision to the next. You’re probably asking for problems. Maybe small ones, and if you’re pretty comfortable with Linux and reading logs and config files, it’s probably not a big deal. But, if that’s not the case, starting with a clean slate is recommended.

Yes, thanks. I can usually deal with those kind of problems but not at the moment !
