File Manager is missing after updating npm, nvm, node

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu Linux 22.04.5
Webmin version 2.303
Virtualmin version 7.30.8
Webserver version Apache version 2.4.52
Related packages Not sure

Prior to updating npm, nvm, node, etc. I had (and was using) the File Manager. After updating it is gone. I have found some related help, but it is 2 years old and suggests a fix coming.

Nothing in Virtualmin/Webmin depends on or uses npm, nvm, node, etc. So, whatever problem you’re having is not related to that update.

What error do you see? Have you looked at the Webmin miniserv.error log?

No - sorry, I didn’t… but I did get it back again by following one suggestion to reload the webmin files using: apt-get install --reinstall webmin

I believe I’m good now. Thank you.

Like you I also use File Manager, NodeJS, NVM, and NPM a lot but never with Apache and also on Ubuntu 22 and 24 yet must say I have never had this problem.

Glad to hear you have resolved it - of course - though concerned as to the cause as that solution seems quite drastic :open_mouth:

Agreed.. for me, this is a dev server that is a new install. The first thing I did, after a clean install, was install Docker. The second thing was to install node, nvm, etc. then the File Manager was missing.

So, it wasn’t too risky for me to run the above code only being 1-2 hours into this server.

that is one big difference - I do not have such a requirement.
some of these VMs are pretty busy production boxes (hence my concern)

and all my VS use Nginx webservers (not Apache)
