[Feature-Wish] make it easier to switch into another user

The place to switch into another user Accounts is very well hidden and not very intuitive to use.

As far as I know, there are two places to switch into another user-role:

  1. VirtualServer Administrator via

Virtualmin → Choose Virtual Server in Select-Field → Administration Options → Switch to Servers Admin

  1. VirtualServer User (Usermin)

Virtualmin → Choose Virtual Server in Select-Field → Edit Users → Select a user by click on it → Use Button “Login to Usermin”

How to do better:

  • Place anything about Virtualmin Users in one Section / Screen (not scattered in different sections in Virtualmin)
  • Maybe rename “Edit Users” in “User-Accounts” which is more general, as you can CRUD, or swtich into other accounts in this section.
  • Let user see on first view, which of the users are Admin-User-Account, which is Usermin, etc.
  • Show user-switch icon early on top-level (not hidden in edit-view where it make no sense!)
  • If switched into a user, make “logout” to get back to the User-Account where you come from, instead of fully logging out from virtualmin

The change user, Log In / Log out area is in the main tool bar / menu at the bottom of Virtualmin, Webmin and Usermin in plain view.

I know, but this doesn’t has the functionality I’ve described … and which are in the other sections.

Means to switch to ServerAdmin or Usermin of current choosed VirtualServer in Virtualmin.

Yes, it does.

Example: you’re logged in to Webmin and want to change to a different Webmin user, just click that area where your current logged in name is and this window opens automatically:

You can then switch to any user.

And BTW I don’t wan’t to switch a Webmin-User, but be able to choose for VirtualServer-Admin or VirtualServer-User (Usermin). Don’t know if “switching webmin-user” are fully the same… I don’t think so.

You’re logged in as root. See that button that says “return to user list”? If you click that it will go to the list that contains ever user in Webmin. Then you can select any user in that list and switch to them or edit them.

Ok, but don’t work anyway.
I come to the webmin-users list… but for example i don’t see the User “info” you see in my first screen to the virtual-server.

And even if I click on the webmin-user erfolgsbeginn, it only shows me:

I think we’re talking past each other here. If not, please show me 2 Step-By-Step screenshots, how to archive this:

  1. if logged in as webmin-root
  2. go to virtualmin
  3. choose a Server (let’s say bimbom.com)
  4. switch into Usermin of one of the users bimbom.com has
  5. switch into ServerAdmin of bimbom.com
  6. show that both switches are at the same place and easy to understand how to use

If that could be documented by screenshots, my request is obsolet, if not, the feature-wish still valid - in my opinion.

I misunderstood what you were getting at. I thought you wanted to switch between users in Webmin/Vitualmin/Usermin. You’re talking about independent virtual server users. My fault.
