I got help getting identical .com users for an otherwise .org domain (they use both interchangeably for mail, and over time some users got used the .com and some the .org version for email authentication… which virtualmin does not support easily).
The solution was to clone users and make .com versions:
One thing that slowed this down considerably for me was that
Webmin > System > Users and Groups > Local Groups > the-group > the-user > Clone User
does not get you to a “Clone” per say (in the template I mean). It gets you the real name and the password hash, but little else. In my case this meant that I had to fill out the username, select the shell, set the userid number, select the home directory, select the group, and tell it not to create anything file-wise.
That’s not really a clone. That’s the name and password hash and a bunch of copying work for me. A “Clone” in my view would be exactly the same, or exactly the same but with no username (since the template’s create button would not work otherwise).
Please consider updating this.
