Fail2Ban fails to start after Virtual Server deletion

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu 24.04.03
Webmin version 2.520
Virtualmin version 7.50.0 Professional
Webserver version Apache/2.4.63
Related packages Fail2Ban v1.0.2

After deleting a virtual server in Virtualmin Pro 7.50.0 on Ubuntu 24.04, the system’s Fail2Ban service failed to start.

The issue was traced to an orphaned jail configuration left behind, I configured it via WP Workbench Manager plugin. AnyVirtual Server > Manage Web Apps > Manage WordPress > WP WorkBench > System > Enable brute-force login failure protection > YES

That jail referenced a non-existent log file belonging to the deleted domain, which caused Fail2Ban to abort during startup.

After deleting the jail manually, Fail2Ban starts successfully again.

Hello,

Thanks for the heads-up!

Understood! The issue is confirmed and will be fixed in the next Virtualmin 7.50.1 and WP Workbench releases.

What a debut post!

This issue is fixed and will work correctly when Virtualmin 7.50.1 and WP Workbench 2.0.3 are released.
