Yesterday I installed Webmin + Virtualmin.
I followed this Install Instructions: http://www.webmin.com/vdownload.html
When I clicking the button labeled Re-check and refresh configuration this is what I get:
[code:1]
The status of your system is being checked to ensure that all enabled features are available, that the mail server is properly configured, and that quotas are active …
BIND DNS server is installed, and the system is configured to use it.
Mail server Postfix is installed and configured.
The Suexec command on your system is configured to only run scripts under /var/www, but the Virtualmin base directory is /home. CGI and PHP scripts run as domain owners will not be executed.
… your system is not ready for use by Virtualmin.
[/code:1]
When you say you followed the Install Instructions, does that mean you downloaded the install script and ran it? Or that you followed the old clunky, complicated, instructions linked of on the old clunky Swell Technology page (I can say that, because I made that page five or six years ago…and if I could find the password, I’d remove it, and link folks to newer stuff…I need to tell Jamie to remove that link…as it makes no sense these days).
Since you’re running on an OS that is supported by the automated install script, I would strongly suggest using it. It’ll save you tons and tons of time, and will insure your system looks like most everybody else, and will thus be easier to support and find docs and help for.
