That looks like a systemic problem out of our control. I don’t have a good guess about its origin, but we don’t provide the proftpd package, so if it’s segfaulting, it’s not something we can fix.

Maybe check what sources you’re pulling from; if it’s a hosting provide yum repo, maybe switch to official upstream mirrors instead.

But, the more important issue is you’re installing an EOL operating system version. Full support for Alma 8 ended in 2024. It’s now in security-only support mode (and even security updates have limited scope). It’s just a bad idea to deploy a new server on an ancient OS.

Interesting and good point I missed that during my installation on the EOL side. Thank you so much for your response! I will update if I find any other issues but with a reinstall of Alma8 the script worked with no failure so wondering if it was just a fluke. Anyway since you pointed out the out of date on this I will probably be looking to upgrade soon I didn’t catch it during my installation.
