Email original password

I installed webmin-virtualmin-password-recovery. One of its recovery options is “Email original password” which sends the password in plain text. During the virtualmin install I chose “Store plain-text passwords”.

If I had chosen “Only store hashed passwords” would “Email original password” still have worked?

How could it? If passwords are hashed Virtualmin doesn’t know them.
