Does Usermin listen on IPV6

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu 24.04
Webmin version 2.202
Usermin version 2.102

Does usermin listen on IPV6 by default or is there a setting somewhere to switch on IPV6 ? Had a look around the usermin settings & couldn’t find anything or is it the case that usermin is IPV4 only ?

@jimr1,

Usermin binds to port 20000 on all known devices and should support both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols if setup correctly on your system.

I see this

as you can see usermin is not listening on IPV6, I have tried on 5 usermin installations, 3 of those are stock Virtualmin installs and I get the same results across the board

@jimr1,

Webmin > Usermin Configuration > Ports and Addresses

You need to enable.

Interesting. Dont use it, so never noticed. It should allow ipv6 by default IMO. Maybe for future releases it the devs can set this as default.

I added an IPV6 address via webmin and it detected it automatically, I wrongly expected that if webmin had correctly identified IPV6 that it would apply IPV6 to usermin at the same time. I have found some other anomalies with in webmin when IPV6 is applied to a webmin system, but I’ll leave this alone in this thread as it would be off topic.

Perhaps they need to be revealed to the rest of us who haven’t yet fallen foul of them? - Please. :gift: (perhaps in a separate topic)

Here’s one Slight bug with IP address allocation Display
