Hi, I always had a problem with very laggy file manager’s file editor and recently on my new server I noticed that lag was gone. Thought maybe some update did the trick, but once i put on Night mode it started lagging again, with day mode there is 0 issues. When I tried on my all other older servers and saw that on all of them I was using night mode which caused that lag. So it seems there is some kind of bug? Also I must mention that this problem exists on Safari browser, tested on chrome both day and night modes don’t cause any issues. Anyone noticed this?
In private browsing mode there is a bit less input lag, but still noticeable. Also the more text is in editable file the more it lags while typing/editing it.
Everything is at default. Removed all extensions, restarted the browser. Still the same. Also just tried replicate this issue on my other laptop Macbook Air M1, same issue.
Tried with/without Private Relay no difference. I highly doubt that it’s problem on my side, since I’ve tested on 2 different machines, different networks. Also on day mode there is absolutely no lag, everything works flawlessly, but once I turn on dark mode file editor becomes super laggy (big input, scrolling lag)
Alright, I have dug in deeper, and was able to reproduce it! This is a silly Safari bug, but we can address it on our end.
You can apply the following patches and force a page reload by using ⌥⌘R (Reload Page From Origin) in Safari and see if it fixes the issue for you too?
