Creating new Apache website WITHOUT SSL

Back in Days, if I created a new Apache Site with VMin, I needed to check a button that I wanted an SSL Cert by Let’s Encrypt for the new site, too. Else it would create a self-signed Cert or none at all.

These Days Vmin creates a SSL Cert by Let’s Encrypt by default.

Can I restore the old behavior? Im pretty sure I can… but the Webmin Options… where do I find it?

Disable SSL by default at Features and Plugin, then it will be unticked when you create a new server. Not sure why you would want this though

Oh man… sometimes I just a bit stupid… I looked in the Webmin defaults…
Your way is much easier.

Nah, I remember trying to find this once as well

TBH - I thought the ability to create websites without SSL was removed, but I could be wrong on that, especially when there is a way shown above.

Maybe the ability was removed from server templates?

The ssl cert is free why would you not want it though, just important DNS is correct for it to install on the new virtual server. LE is a very good service.

I think that explains why. SSL has only really become essential on public networks and since banking via the internet (not quite so for intranets or sites that still do not care about such things)

Browsers as well now very fussy.

You kidding VM is very deep, learning curve just continues … for all of us.

the big public ones like Chrome/FireFox for sure but once upon a time (and probably still is) one could cook up one’s own - perfectly acceptable for intranets. (much smaller and potentially more secure than the big net variants who seem to concentrate on control/sales/big brother)

Not removed, just hidden by default, on the assumption that you want your website to work, and browsers don’t really let HTTP sites work, anymore.
