Creating a FTP-user without email address

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu Linus 22.04.4
Virtualmin version 7.20.1

I’m a happy newbie, very please to discover all I can do with Virtualmin.
Only one thing puzzles me (so far).

I wanted to create a new FTP user, so I chose the domain (I have 5 on my VPS), and I did.
My concern is that the login is “name@domain.tld”.
As there will never be any mail with that account, I wish the login would only be “name”.
Did I miss something? I haven’t found a way to do that.
Thanks to all who will answer.

Well virtualmin is for creating virtual servers and there can be many or a few users with the same name, ie steve@abc.com and steve@xyz.com. You need the @ to know to what virtual server they from and send them to the correct area. Why is it a concern?

Yes.

You can configure the format of usernames, and you can configure whether the username has a domain extension included in the username; but, beware there are some caveats with that, as usernames must be unique.

Have a look at System Settings->Virtualmin Configuration->Defaults for new Domains->Include domain name in username.

While you’re at it, have a look around everything in Virtualmin Configuration and Server Templates. Whatever weird thing you want to do has probably been asked for by someone else, and Jamie probably implemented it. The price is the options are overwhelming, but the benefit is that whatever you’re trying to do is probably already done.

Ah, thanks a lot. I was sure there was a setting for that, just hadn’t looked enough…
Thanks again.
