I have established connection to Cloudflare and all DNS records are being transferred properly. However, in Cloudflare it says " The content field of TXT records must be in quotation marks. Cloudflare may add quotation marks on your behalf, which will not affect how the record works." It’s the record which begins with “v=spf1”. There are two other txt records which are in quotation marks. I don’t know why Cloudflare doesn’t add te quotation marks, because it seems to do it for the other two txt records. All three txt records don’t show quotation marks within Virtualadmin. I don’t know how the communication between the two works. Anyway, the domain can be accessed, hence I think it’s fine, but I would like all entries to be properly set. Should I add quotation marks for that record?
Are you using cloud provider setting in virtualmin or are you doing it manually?
If its not adding the quotes then its a bug, I’ll see if I can test it.
P.S. Tested and adding quotes fine, maybe your doing it manually?

No, I let Virtualmin do all the editing of the entries in cloudflare. The quotation marks are missing at both DNS zones which I am currently maintaining (and Cloudflare is pointing it out). However, I am not sure what you mean by “cloud provider setting”. I have connected Virtualmin with cloudflare via an API token which was created in Cloudflare.
Sorry I have no idea how that works.
Maybe better using virtualmin’s cloud provider setting.
Just to clarify:
When using the Virtual min Cloud DNS Providers tool, it asks either for credentials or for an API token to be entered. The API token can be easily created within Cloudflare and then just needs to be copied in the Virtualmin dialog for Cloudflare. That’s also what the guide is describing.
Are there no more suggestions? As said, I let Virtualmin do everything, I have not changed a bit of the DNS entries. Yet for all domains, the spf-Entry is free of quotation marks.
That is just a standard notification, not an error. Cloudflare automatically adds quotation marks when saving the record, and this does not affect the record’s functionality. You can verify this by running the command dig TXT yourdomain.com to confirm that the v=spf1 value still appears correctly. I recommend against adding quotation marks yourself in Virtualmin, as the system might add its own, resulting in duplication (i.e., double sets of quotation marks).
Thank you for your input. In Cloudflare the entry appears without quotation marks, even though in the “warning” it says that Cloudflare “may add quotation marks” on my behalf. I also think that this is not a big problem, but since others have quotation marks around these entries, I just wonder what is or could be different with my setup and if I can do something to remedy it. I am not changing anything manually as long as I am not 100% certain that it doesn’t break anything - and I’m far from that.
