Cloning a system not using Cloudmin

I’m rebuilding a server and would like it to have exactly the same setup as my current server. I read an article on how to do this using Cloudmin. Unfortunately that is not something that I need (I’ve only one system server) and would be a bit expensive just for this task.

Is there a way of doing this using Webmin / Virtualmin ?

Is it the same hardware?

Veeam has a free community edition that does entire computer,

Webmin does have backup, I have no experience on it though.

Very similar but not 100% the same. I did investigate Clonezilla, but from what I read it clones everything, whereas I want to use the upgraded “Ubuntu” and clone all the setup / virtual hosts.

thats what cloning is, you mean just backing up. Virtualmin has backup and restore.

OP wants to backup and restore all the changes that he has made to Vmin settings.

There was a section in old docs about this:

https://mail.virtualmin.com/documentation/system/backup-and-restore#toc-backing-up-global-settings-RjIInTGx

I just tested on a test server and it has made the backup but I haven’t tried to restore yet.

It appears that you have to schedule it as the unscheduled backup won’t work unless at least one Virtual Server is selected.

I can’t find any mention of this in the current documentation.

Thank you all for your help.

I’ve decided that I’ll do the setup by hand and copying the files I need from the working server.
