I have tried changing the document root of a virtual server via a template and by httpd.conf
After restarting apache the edit virtual server the path seems correct.
I have checked the directory ownership and made sure the web root is 0750 as per nomral public_html.
Whatever I do I get forbidden error.

There are newer discussions of the topic, and my general recommendation is “don’t”, as folks rarely understand the implications and tend to get themselves into messes when trying to change stuff like this.

@slipsy, you need to look at the error log to understand what’s actually happening. The browser doesn’t really get useful information.

I think we probably need to see specific configuration and paths to make any useful recommendations. You can change DocumentRoot. It isn’t magic and is not specific to Virtualmin (Apache is Apache whether it is managed by Virtualmin or not). So, since it isn’t working, you’re doing something wrong, but I can’t guess what without any specific information.
