CentOS 7: Latest Webmin update makes DNS records not displayed

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version CentOS 7.9
Webmin version 2.001
Virtualmin version 7.2gpl
Related packages SUGGESTED

Howdy,
after updating Virtualmin, Webmin and Usermin yesterday(9/26/22) BIND DNS service is no longer running and cannot be started. BIND complains that there are no domains. I have 5 domains running and external DNS is working, the sites are resolving. My V-min server does not run name servers locally, I use external DNS for resolution.
Here’s the problem, my host machine no longer has records of the domains its hosting. My scheduled backup failed last night with the error “domain not found”. My backups dont require external DNS as its the local machine running the backup. When I look at the BIND DNS Module as of today my host machine has “0” records of the 5 domains that it is hosting.
Something got nuked on the latest Vmin update, I believe.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI: /var/named/chroot is empty but /var/named has hosts files for each of the 5 domains I host.
Thanks,
Joe

Hello,

Sorry about that. I thought that this was fixed but it happened to be trickier than I thought.

However, the solution for this problem is very simple:

Hi Illia,
thanks for quick response.
Per the question you asked in other thread:

[root@vmin /]# grep os_ /etc/webmin/config
real_os_type=CentOS Linux
os_version=15.9
os_type=redhat-linux
real_os_version=7.9.2009
[root@vmin /]

Ran the command from other thread and rebooted.
My Backup is running now and my DNS zones are populated again.
“Marking Solved”
Thanks,
Joe
