PLEASE A HELP.
Since yesterday I can’t connect to the control panel and the 2 websites I have are below. At the server I can normally connect via ssh and ultra vnc … the server is running ubuntu 24.04.
To rule out the idea that you have been banned by fail2ban, try connecting to the server from a different ip address such as a mobile phone using mobile data rather than wifi or if you are behind a domestic router try switching it off waiting a while and turning it back on, with a bit of luck your provider will have assigned a different ip to your router
Is this a vps or a physical box? If its a vps you should be able to connect via there control panel.
I connect to the vps server via ultra vnc normally with root password. I can’t connect to the panel. What should I look for?
I also rebooted the vps but nothing..
It is a VPS server.
That means this ban will never be lifted, looks like you were supplying the wrong password to webmin, as you appear to have access to the server again check the log files to see what was happening when you tried to login

Yes, what you say is correct, I once entered the wrong root password in virtualmin and it blocked me!
Have you installed CSF? You should be on there whitelist, it normally does it during install.
If your doing the connection from a different IP add the new IP to the whitelist. What LF_Trigger value did you set?
Yes, I have installed CSF. I can’t whitelist the IP because I don’t have a static IP, it keeps changing. I have a 5G internet connection.
Not sure of the solution, maybe disable LF_Trigger on webmin and use 2FA.
What is this ? A firewall which instantly “perma ban” after only 1 failure ?!!! I’m shocked.
Still If there is not custom setup on the Server. What about simply backup your site (and everything you shall backup, such as DB …) and reset/reinstall the whole server, from your hosting provider panel. Then you reinstall Virtualmin.
The ban will be gone and you will be able to upload the backup through Virtualmin. Everything should be fine.
That’s not the default configuration.
