Hi there, I would like to buy a domain name that you manage it.
How can I buy that?
Hello,
We don’t sell domains or manage anyone’s domain either. We just provide software that other people can use.
You should reach out to the people who own the domain you want to buy because we don’t.
probably default page "Domain welcome page for … " , might be confusing for some people.. ![]()
Do you mean you would like to buy a domain that you can manage yourself? You’ll need to go to a registrar and purchase it. I use Namecheap personally, but there are plenty around. Just search for domain registrars on your favorite search engine.
and some are far better than others it is all about which do you trust these days
I had a friend mention the PORKBUN registrar recently (and besides the silly name) I found their prices to be lower than my current registrar (eNom) so will probably switch. Their interface (and API) is very nice. Anyone have recommendations of any others??
(oops, thx, is PORK… nor PORN… hee hee)
@jimdunn you need to spell that correctly ![]()
I am currently in dispute with them and quite a serious issue with their support. (which used to be both fast and excellent) but my disability does not help! ![]()
I have a client whose use of another registrar has caused even worse problems.
one of the important steps is to plan ahead as transferring domains between registrars is not always easy and can be quite costly especially if the domain has a specific .tld or has been paid in advance (you will not get a refund)
You keep the years on your domain. The usual convention is when you move domain now they charge you another year but then add that onto your current expiry date.
Unless things have changed.
Ah, ok, thx… will avoid them and stay with eNom (now TUCOWS)… have never had an issue with eNom…
I really do not want to put anyone off using them they were excellent right up to the current issue and are at least working at a stupefyingly slow pace to resolve the issue. Their support desk has no concept of disability which does not help. But then who does? You will get the hard sell - which is of course understandable. Their prices are among the best. My main domain was registered first way back in 1996 and I moved it to them years ago. A Happy customer if only they would understand the situation and could do a simple thing.
that was certainly the case when I last changed a .com however was not the case when a client attempted to transfer a .ru a .uk and a .cn. But then countries seem to have their own rules ![]()
i do .uk and .co.uk, and I have never have this.
This might be a registrar specific thing, but I will go and check.
I’d rather use gTLD than ccTLD.
Cctld are better for SEO when just a local company.
Curious that OP hasn’t responded? A variation of slop? Ask a dumb question and watch what happens.
There’s nothing to respond. They realized they misunderstood the message they saw.
I’m about 99% certain they saw a website hosted on Virtualmin (a disabled or placeholder page), didn’t really read it, and thought that because they saw our logo it meant we owned the domain and could sell it to them. Now, presumably, they understand that’s not the case. Nothing else to be said.
All these unrelated conversations don’t change anything about the original question which was answered way back.
