BUG: Set loglevel back to INFO is not working. Filling up HD overnight

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version: Ubuntu Linux 20.04.2
Webmin version: 1.973
Virtualmin version: 6.16
Related products version: Fail2Ban v.unknown

I could not find the fail2ban version. If you know how to determine the version, please let me know. All packages are up to date.

I wanted to know more about fail2ban and set through the GUI the loglevel to ERROR. After a while, I set it back to INFO. However, after restarting fail2ban and even a reboot, I still get the same level of messages as ERROR in the log file.

I checked the fail2ban.conf file and the loglevel is indeed INFO. I did poke around for quite a while for a solution both on the web and in /etc/fail2ban/ and found the file fail2ban.local file where the loglevel is set to 3.

I used v-min to recreate the jail.local file and reloaded f2b. Even rebooted. The log file is full of messages associated to loglevel ERROR. The log file fills the FS overnight!

I want the log level to be INFO instead of ERROR.

What am I missing? After a lot of research, this appears to be a bug.

Cheers!!
