I really want a local delivery agent that can handle .qmail files and ezmlm mailing lists and although I’ve long given up on anyone releasing a workable version of qmail ever again I have found mention of people using qmail-local as mailbox_command from postfix and getting the best of both worlds. And it seems to me if I could tag it on to the end of virtualmins mail handling I would get virus/spam and quota handling thrown in at no extra cost. Other users might prefer to forget about qmail and use dovecots lda for performance benefits but in either case the question would be where to add. It appears replacing the last line of /etc/procmailrc would do it although
/etc/webmin/virtual-server/procmail/ would be a way to do it on a per-domain basis. It’s not clear from looking at those files how you stop procmail from processing but I’m guessing
|/my/new/lda
/dev/null
would do the trick. Has anyone else tried something like this?
Hi Dear,
Yes, using qmail-local as mailbox command in Postfix can absolutely work for handling .qmail files and ezmlm lists while benefiting from Virtual min’s spam/virus filtering. Replacing the last line of /etc procmailrc with:
|/my/new/lda
/dev/null
should redirect delivery, effectively stopping further procmail processing. For per-domain control, modifying /etc/webmin/virtual-server/procmail/ works. Some users prefer Dovecot’s LDA for performance, but if qmail-local meets your needs, this setup is valid.
Thanks, erm… sweetie? That’s a good tip on the per-domain control as now I have my mail hosted I was reluctant to try further experimentation.
Absolutely gold! Already made my day.
