Backup problem after upgrade virtualmin

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu Linux 20.04.6
Webmin version 2.021
Virtualmin version 7.7-2

I am getting this error. This error only on subdomains.

Creating backup for virtual server abc.domain.net
Copying virtual server configuration …

Copying records in DNS domain …
… domain not found!

Domain records are in DNS records.

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this! @Jamie is aware, we will work on fixing it.

Thanks a lot!

I noticed this last night and was going to report it, but no need to do so now.

Be aware, however, that the default setting for scheduled backups is to stop the backup if it fails at any point. For the time being at least, it would be a good idea to change that so the rest of the servers and features will be backed up. Otherwise if the failed backup occurs early in the list of virtual servers, the rest will not be backed up at all.

Also, just FYI, I’ve only noticed this on sub-servers, not parent servers.

Richard

I came to report the same problem, for information, it appeared with the update of Virtualmin version 7.7. Everything is handled internally without errors (and Scheduled Backups were working before the update).

Thanks for the great work you are doing.

Ok I found the cause of this issue - the fix is here : Fix check for zone file when doing sub-domain backups https://forum.v… · virtualmin/virtualmin-gpl@ffeb542 · GitHub

added the fix and confirm it does work

I guess this patch will be part of the next update (an approximate date?).
Or is it better to do the fix manually?

I’m having the same issue and not on subdomains.

also on Ubuntu 20.04.6

Virtualmin version 7.7 Pro

Creating backup for virtual server domain.net

Copying virtual server configuration …
… done
Backing up Cron jobs …
… none defined.
Creating TAR file of home directory …

Copying records in DNS domain …
… domain not found!

It’s only happening on domains that I have the Hosting for DNS records as Cloudflare DNS
