Since RHEL EPEL remove Awstats because it is no longer maintained, looks like GoAccess is a valid replacement?
Should I file a feature request for a module to be added for this?
Yes I could try and add it but since it seems like GoAccess is the correct replacement for RHEL 10+ (RockyLinux, AlmaLinux) it would be nice for a module to make admins and end users happy

Just asking and if it is a no then ok will move forward to trying to make something work with GoAccess

I don’t think we’re planning to replace AWstats or Webalizer. Or, rather, it’s already been replaced by Matomo. Which provides analytics via another mechanism, rather than log analysis.

But, we’re certainly not stopping you from using anything you want. GoAccess appears to be a terminal app, however, so making a Webmin module for it doesn’t seem like a great fit.

As a Virtualmin Pro user, you can easily install Matomo, an open-source web analytics tool

It’s really great, and we use it too.

Matomo is probably something we ought to consider letting trickle down into Virtualmin GPL, as well, especially now that AWstats and Webalizer are so long past being reasonable choices.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind making Matomo available in Virtualmin GPL.

@Joe
I missed Matomo when searching forum.
Thanks will look into utilizing it.

@Ilia
Including Matomo available in GPL would be a good inclusion since we all ne analytics

I wonder if we oughtn’t make it more fully integrated, while we’re at it. Currently it’s an install script like any other, but I don’t think we show links to it or anything in Virtualmin. Might even be neat to pull a summary into the Virtualmin UI when enabled for a domain (not sure what kind of data can cheaply be pulled out, though, I’m not actually very familiar with it).

This sounds like a good idea.

I am not sure how it works myself, but just incase, when you guys look at it, can you consider that admins might have an external Matomo instance already so there should be an option in virtuamin to use that external instance instead of the internal virtual one.

This is not a deal breaker but just a thought I had and might be a consideration.

Done. @Jamie, FYI, Matomo is in Virtualmin GPL now.

It will support migration and add the ability to detect and import existing Matomo installs installed outside into Virtualmin.

It will also explain which tracking code should be added:

Thank you for this valuable addition. I was thinking of installing GoAccess into the Webalizer directory to take advantage of the convenient link in the Virtualmin interface that doesn’t require entering a password and that keep it out of the homepage web directory. Will Matomo be accessible the same way? Will it be possible to use it as a log analyzer only, without adding the script to all the pages?

Just installed. I was wondering how I was going to add to wp, but its instruction at login show how to install plugin and got working without issues. Nice.

@CTS, it’s been implemented:

@Ilia
Thank you!

I will try it in next couple days and report back :slightly_smiling_face:

@Ilia
Installed and report generated and looks amazing!
Very welcomed addition :slightly_smiling_face:
