there are several that give the option of “hostname”
but would it not be possible to have the option of “server name” as currently listed in “Default Page for Virtualmin”
it is confusing when a browser url always seems to open in Webmin and includes the hostname even if the hostmame has no meaning e.g. some-nonexistent-domain.tld?
In the drop down list in “Default Page for Virtualmin” are listed the VS currently active on that box.
Having the selected one visible in the title format would be clearer especially as more than one browser could be in use and performing different independent operations (e.g. File Manager or examining system logs or configs).
The hostname is irrelevant as it is now usually set to a non-resolving name literally like “china.box1.tld”
however both options “Hostname from url” and “Domain name from url” had no effect at all on either open window. (yes I did save) - do I have to reboot VM?
using the option “other name” and specifying the domain in the adjacent box did not really work either as it changed the title for every window even windows logged in as a different domain owner.
following a reboot prompt after a package update - nothing has changed - so not that!
as root - user interface options still show domainA withe the “title page” in theme as “hostname - module”. The window still shows domainA — /home/domainA/public_html – File Manager
but open a new window as the domain owner and still get domainA showing in the title.
domain owners/admins should never see this or anything other than the domain(s) they own.
does this go back to when the hostname of the box used to be a resolvable registered domain? (obviously china.box1.tld does not resolve) but wangbin.cn does
I don’t understand which problem we are solving here or what’s wrong.
If you want to prevent users from changing theme settings, you can use the “Forbid access to theme config for users” option to disallow them from altering the theme configuration, including “Document title format”.
