PLEASE HELP
Apache Webserver won’t come on again (it happened once before as well) after updates today
I did the cmd: # systemctl status apache2.service
and got
Unit apache2.service could not be found.
I don’t know if this helps to point to the problem but thought I’d mention…
When I try preview website in some of the webservers it says
ERROR - virtual-server/link.cgi (line 120)
Looks like apache has been removed for some reason, that’s why you are getting the error that the apache2 service missing.
This could now be the time to do a fresh install with a more modern OS and restore you virtual servers from backups. As you use Centos closest would be Rocky or Alma, but you could switch to a Debian OS such as Debian or Ubuntu.
Fair enough. I have never used A Centos system (and am never likely to) I was generalising (I know never a good thing) by apt I was indicating your “package manager” the OP mentioned apache2 so I guess we were all confused.
