I’m maybe overlooking something, but I keep imagining a sanario that looks like the following:
User A has virtual server somedomain.blah.
User A begins abusing his resources, etc.
So I limit user A’s total disk quota using the quota’s and limits section with the edit virtual server section.
So that solves a few things (and I’m not wishing to do this globally with account plans) directly, so this is why I pose these questions.
Now, suppose I’m in a sitaution where I can do this successfully.
But User B requests an additional mailbox (and at account creation, he only has 1 mailbox,) and now needs 2 to be available, etc.
I’m wondering about this, as well as all the follwoing:
Can change database name? and all of that stuff.
yes, it’s in account plans, obviously, but that’s not where I wish to do any of these tasks.
I wish to do it on a per-account basis, not globally, as I would wish to leave every other account alone.
Does Virtualmin have any specific setup where this may be accomplished?
If not, any specific areas where the settings I refferenced like database name change allowance, alias and non-aliass servers, etc may be done only on a server basis and not throughout the entire system at the account plan level?
I’m looking for the power to do all of this on a per-server or in this case think of the servers as actual customers, without actually effecting anybody at account plan level.
So this is why I ask for any assistance you folks may have in this specific situation, and I hope someone has some useful experience to offer here.
I’m also wondering, if somebody could explain just so I understand exactly why I might want to limit this why a quota for server administrator exists, and why I may wish to limit it? I’d appreciate a sanario in wich it might be good to limit it, and maybe a possible consequence of me not doing so, just in case I ever find myself in that type of server situation! Thanks!
Also, I think I’ve answered my own questionn above, after pokigna bout, I found something relating to owner settings under the server configuration section.
I wish to do it on a per-account basis, not globally, as I would wish to leave every other account alone
You can change the settings that you see in the Account Plans for one specific Virtual Server in Administrative Options -> Edit Owner Limits.
Be sure to check out both “Virtualmin limits for server owner” and “Allowed capabilities and features”.
As far as changing the database name – I believe that’s an on or off toggle for the entire server (though I don’t seem to be able to find it at a glance here, so I’m not entirely certain
if somebody could explain just so I understand exactly why I might want to limit this why a quota for server administrator exists, and why I may wish to limit it?
Well, while it’s there to provide additional options – I’ve never once used that option, and I’m not sure I’ve yet run across a setup which does (to be fair, I haven’t seen the setups of most folks on here, but still!)
I personally think that option makes things more confusing than they need to be, and I’m not sure it’s all that useful Now that you mention it, I may talk to Jamie about whether it’s really necessary. (if anyone is using it, now is a good time to mention it
