Adding extra domain names to virtual server

Hi,

I’ve got Virtualmin set up and running brilliantly, and have created a virtual server, which seems to be working fine. What I can’t see at the moment is a way to add an additional domain name to a virtual server (for example, the virtual server is set up with a.com; I want to have b.com and c.com function the same as a.com).

Is it as simple as adding an A record to the DNS configuration, or something more involved?

Thanks,

Howdy,

The way to do that would be to go into “Create Virtual Server”, and add an “Alias” server.

Adding an alias will handle setting up all the DNS and Apache config goodies for you.

Ahh, fantastic stuff; thanks for the prompt help!

One other question I do have is about ip-based access to virtual servers; back when I was using directadmin, you could visit w.x.y.z/~username, and that would get you that users virtual server. Is something similar with virtualmin possible?

Thanks again,

Howdy,

While that specific system isn’t recommended, there are some other ways to accomplish the same thing. You can read about those in the first section of the FAQ here:

Excellent; that’s both my problems solved then!

Thanks very much for your assistance.
