Why don't my posts appear?

I’ve tried posting to forums about 20 times. Only once did my attempt succeed. All of the other times I get a page with a message that my topic was created, but when I look for it, it’s not there. Yes, I’m logged in and yes, I click the Private box. I don’t know what I did differently the time it did succeed, but it’s frustrating to not be able to post.

The spam filter is overly hostile to messages with domain names and IP addresses in them. I have published the most recent of your ports.

The private checkbox should only be used if you’re posting passwords or other sensitive information (which should only ever be done in the issue tracker, if you’re a Pro customer and we need to be able to access your system for testing or similar). Marking it private means no one can help you, except me. And, I can’t always answer every post, though I try. Actually…I sould just disable private posting in the forum; it makes no sense here.

OK and thanks. I’ll try to make my posts more “spam friendly”.

I’ve actually encountered this before on another forum. That forum had the capability to send attachmented files in a limited number of imaged formats. With that one I generally resorted to writing my post in a word processor, taking a screen shot of it, attaching the screenshot to a post in which I explained an overview of the problem and that the problem details were in the attached file. It was cumbersome and I think it reduced the the number of people who actually looked at the post, but it was a way to post.

I don’t think our situation is so dire as to require that; most posts make it through unmolested. Following the guidelines of just avoiding the triggers (domains and email addresses, primarily, though also speaking Chinese or mentioning drugs will also trigger it) will almost always get it through; and even if not I try to go through and empty out the moderation queue every few days, but sometimes I forget for a while until someone files a ticket or emails me (but a ticket is always faster).
