Webmail Folder Display

Hi,

We use Virtualmin Pro to provide services to our customers.

One of my few gripes has to do with the webmail.

While I think the webmail is pretty nice, it becomes non-functional if the user has very many folders. One webmail package that does a really good job on folders is Roundcube, which we also offer to our customers (and I use it myself if away from my Thunderbird IMAP client).

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a setting somewhere to make the folders display in a more reasonable way when there are lots of folders?

If not, please consider this a feature request. It would lower my support burden for webmail users.

Thanks,

G

Well, some admins offer RoundCube instead of Usermin due to the usability differences. Using System Settings -> Server Templates -> Default -> Apache Website, you can configure webmail.domain.tld to redirect to a RoundCube installation rather than Usermin if you wish.

However, what sort of problems is it that you’re seeing… can you post a screenshot?

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the Rapid Response ™!

The basic problem is that all of the folders are expanded. I have three screenfuls of folders. And it is very slow to open up.

Thanks for the suggestion as to RC, but I don’t want the majority of our users to miss out on the specific benefits (anti-spam, etc) of the Usermin webmail. I think they are very important.

Please see attachments including RC version.

Thanks,

G

I had already suggested using a tree-view style mail folder display in Usermin a while ago… The developers then said they’d implement it in a future update. Not sure though what came of that.

(Sorry for double-post… Virtualmin.com is once more not playing nice.)
