Virtualmin + Ubuntu 12.04 + Postfix Configuration problem

Hello,

I’m working for 5-6 days to fix this problem but I can’t. When I try to AUTH PLAIN with an existing user (ex :myname.mydomain) I’m getting this error : 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure

But when I try to AUTH with Non existing user I see this error : 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: another step is needed in authentication

I can’t find any more explation about error in Log file.

What do I need to do?

My postfix config is below.

# See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version

virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual

# Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first
# line of that file to be used as the name. The Debian default
# is /etc/mailname.
#myorigin = /etc/mailname

smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu)
biff = no

# appending .domain is the MUA's job.
append_dot_mydomain = no

# Uncomment the next line to generate "delayed mail" warnings
#delay_warning_time = 4h

smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key
smtpd_use_tls=yes
smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache
smtp_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtp_scache

# See /usr/share/doc/postfix/TLS_README.gz in the postfix-doc package for
# information on enabling SSL in the smtp client.

myhostname = mydomain.com

myorigin = /etc/mailname
mydestination = ubuntu-1204-precise-64-minimal, localhost.localdomain, localhost

mailbox_command = procmail -a "$EXTENSION"
mailbox_size_limit = 0
recipient_delimiter = +
inet_interfaces = all
smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header = yes
smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes

Are there a documentation about setting up Virtualmin on Ubuntu?

Well, there’s not usually a problem with the setup on a default install, it’s normally just a matter of performing an install using the install.sh script.

What is the output of “postconf -n”?

And what does this command show:

ps auxw | grep saslauth

-Eric

#postfonf -n
