Virtualmin Freezes on Changes?

I’ve been noticing if I try to make certain changes (like enabling SSL on a server), Virtualmin will start loading the next page (with the loading animation bar showing), but sometimes it will never load. If that happens, it seems as though the entire Virtualmin server (not the actual sites hosted, but the Virtualmin control panel on port 10000) becomes unavailable for a period of time and even restarting the webmin service doesn’t necessarily restore it immediately. Is there a way to prevent this?

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Debian 12
Virtualmin version Virtualmin 7.20.1

It’s not a thing I’ve seen, and we’d fix it if it were.

There are some circumstances where the connection will be lost, and a page will need to be reloaded (though I think we handle that relatively gracefully, too). TLS certificate changes on the name you’re using to connect to Webmin would be one such case. But, that’s quite quick…restarting Webmin happens almost instantly. You can reload almost immediately after the change.

But, this makes me think something is just broken on your system and you need to track down what:

What’s in the log (/var/webmin/miniserv.error) when this happens?

Thanks – that log file is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. So far, I don’t see anything amiss in there, but it hasn’t frozen again since I wrote in, so I’ll keep watching…
