Hello,

I am using Amazon S3 with Virtualmin, and I am able to manually backup to an Amazon S3 bucket. However, when I try to set up scheduled backups, I encounter the following error:

Testing backup destination example_folder in Amazon S3 bucket example_bucket …
The Perl module S3::QueryStringAuthGenerator needed to communicate with Amazon’s S3 service could not be loaded: Attempt to reload S3.pm aborted.
Compilation failed in require at S3/QueryStringAuthGenerator.pm line 19.
BEGIN failed–compilation aborted at S3/QueryStringAuthGenerator.pm line 19.
Compilation failed in require at (eval 291) line 2.
BEGIN failed–compilation aborted at (eval 291) line 2.

Webmin version: 2.021
Virtualmin version: 7.7 Pro
Operating system: CentOS Linux 7.9.2009
Kernel and CPU: Linux 3.10.0-1160.92.1.el7.x86_64 on x86_64

I am seeking assistance with this issue. Thank you in advance for any help.

Best regards,

I also have this issue on a couple EC2 instances. Both are running RockyOS 8. Both have an IAM Role assignment that lets them write to an S3 bucket.

Operating system Rocky Linux 8.7
Webmin version 2.021
Usermin version 1.861
Virtualmin version 7.7

Testing backup destination XXX/XXX in Amazon S3 bucket XXXXX …

The fields to enter the IAM API keys are not present on this version on the ‘Create Scheduled Backup’ screen. Maybe it senses the IAM Role?

Hopefully we willl get an update on this soon.

Thanks!
