So I looked on the site, and saw there was a way to downgrade. I need to update the server and cannot afford a pro license at this moment. So I need to downgrade. but the command I saw on the fourm is not in this version of virtualmin…

I asked virtualmin what commands it did have via the help command and it only had change-license.

I simply need to downgrade it… Help!

look here

Don’t uninstall, though!

I believe OP indicated they don’t have the virtualmin downgrade-license subcommand, which means repos would need to be switched manually to the GPL version and then install the webmin-virtual-server GPL version package explicitly.

That would involve editing /etc/apt/sources.list.d/virtualmin.list and changing the paths to include gpl just after the vm/6/ part of the path. (If you don’t have a vm/6 path, it means you have a very old install, and will also need to move to the newer repos.

I notice he’s running version 6.17.

If he simply upgraded to the current version, would it not upgrade his repos and system as well so that he could then downgrade safely?

If their Pro subscription is expired, they won’t be able to upgrade, since the Pro repos are only available for active subscribers.
