Upgrades in two environments

CentOS 8.2 (2004) via Cockpit.

Today I noticed that Cockpit (CentOS) announced an upgrade for Webmin and Usermin, and when going in to Webmin/Virtualmin the same updates where available.

Cockpit:

Webmin:

So I guess it does not matter from where I actually perform the upgrade?

They’re both using yum/RPM to perform upgrades.

… to the same server…

something tells me I could get rid of Cockpit then… seems like anything done in Cockpit will reflect on Webmin and vice versa since both are GUI’s to the same OS which is CentOS 8 Core

I’d recommend using only one. I don’t know the state of Cockpit or whether it cooperates with other management tools, but I think it’s best to err on the side of caution. If you’re using Virtualmin to manage websites, then you obviously have to keep Webmin, so getting rid of, or just not using, Cockpit, is probably wise.

Finally an answer to that… thanks.
