Updating Virtualmin and updating Linux packages

Hello,

This is my first time using Virtualmin and I wonder if the “Package updates” link I find when I log in is good enough to keep both Virtualmin and all Debian packages/software up to date, replacing in fact the usual “apt-get update && apt-get upgrade” command. Is that the way it works?

Also, I have another server running just Webmin to serve as DNS slave and I wonder if its “Package updates” feature works the same way.

Howdy,

Yeah, the package updates should essentially be running that same apt-get upgrade command behind the scenes.

To make sure it’s working as expected, you could always run the Package Updates, and then log in and try an apt-get upgrade, just to make sure all the packages are correctly installed.
