Unable to access Webmin Dashboard after Installing Palo Alto Expedition Migration Tool

firewalld does not get installed with Webmin. Webmin does not install any firewall.

Virtualmin has a default firewalld firewall, and installing Virtualmin in the recommended way installs firewalld.

It’s misleading by omitting mention of the move to nftables (which is something all distros will do eventually) and the availability of a compatibility layer for the near future.

Firewalld is merely a configuration layer over either iptables or nftables. It may be “recommended” because it is easier for beginners and integrates with some desktop management tools and works well with intermittent wifi networks and such.

I did not know that firewalld gets installed with webmin

Webmin does not install firewalld. Never has. Never will. That’s not Webmin’s business.

Another member commented & mentioned that it did but I did check another webmin installation I did yesterday and firewalld isn’t installed so now I’m guessing it was installed with the Expedition Migration tool. I’ll have to setup another installation to verify. Thanks Joe for the clarification.

I misread and didn’t notice you were talking about virtualmin install which is why I still have ufw installed. Thanks.

Actually, I misread someone’s reply. It’s virtualmin that installs firewalld not webmin. I only have a webmin installation and I confirmed on another recent webmin installation that firewalld is not there.
