firewalld does not get installed with Webmin. Webmin does not install any firewall.
Virtualmin has a default firewalld firewall, and installing Virtualmin in the recommended way installs firewalld.

Itās misleading by omitting mention of the move to nftables
(which is something all distros will do eventually) and the availability of a compatibility layer for the near future.
Firewalld is merely a configuration layer over either iptables
or nftables
. It may be ārecommendedā because it is easier for beginners and integrates with some desktop management tools and works well with intermittent wifi networks and such.
Webmin does not install firewalld. Never has. Never will. Thatās not Webminās business.
Another member commented & mentioned that it did but I did check another webmin installation I did yesterday and firewalld isnāt installed so now Iām guessing it was installed with the Expedition Migration tool. Iāll have to setup another installation to verify. Thanks Joe for the clarification.
I misread and didnāt notice you were talking about virtualmin install which is why I still have ufw installed. Thanks.
Actually, I misread someoneās reply. Itās virtualmin that installs firewalld not webmin. I only have a webmin installation and I confirmed on another recent webmin installation that firewalld is not there.
