Testing Virtualmin Backups (Encrypted)

Hello,

I recently brought up a production server using Webmin/Virtualmin. I have a daily backup setup through virtualmin to an offsite server over ssh. These backups are encrypted by a key via Virtualmin Pro. What is the best way to test the backups?

I am thinking of bringing up a second server however since the backups are encrypted with the key, this second server needs to be registered via Virtualmin Pro I understand,

Does anyone have a procedure developed or a blog post to link?

I can only tell you what I do, which is create test sites on random domains that I have stashed away for such purposes. I upload them, create and restore the databases, back them up, delete them, and restore them a few days later. It’s not the most scientific approach to the problem, but it works.
