SpamAssassin not checking large emails

Generally I am very happy with SpamAssassin. But it’s not scanning, or handling large emails. I have an issues were emails with large attachments (seems over 500Kb) do not get checked at all. Even though the senders email is on the “Denied addresses” list - it still goes into the IN box.

Is there a way to handle that?
